They can be switched to top bulb only for reading, inside bulb only for nightlight or both lit up together. The ambience created by turning on the inside bulb only in the evening is magical. Blue and White

 There is nothing more classic than a blue and white color story. The thing is, how to update it? So it doesn't look tired or old ladyish. I say mix in another color just to spice it up, like turquoise and aqua. Mix turquoise accent pieces with blue and white porcelain objects. Then bring in pillows or a chair in a fabric pattern that has the blue, white and turquoise or aqua in it. All of this works quite well with large pieces or areas such as sofa and walls in neutrals, which could be either beiges, taupes, browns or greys.
